DAAD Doctoral Scholarships 2016

Dear Madam or Sir, dear Colleague,

Please find the following call for applications for your kind information and dissemination to all possibly interested parties.

The DAAD is pleased to announce that it will award a certain amount of scholarships to young academics and scientists to continue their education at a German university in 2016.

Please note: The application deadlines this year will be the 31st of August 2015 and not the 01.10.2014!

 

If you have completed your Master's degree or Diplom and you want to continue your doctoral degree at a state or state-recognized university or a non-university research institute in Germany, please find all information regarding the programme in the new Call for Applications. This is the new and updated Call for Applications for 2016 and the Application-Portal is open now. 


If you want to apply, just follow the instructions given under the tab "Application Procedure".


Application Requirements: 
As you can see in the new Call for Applications there are some requirements you need to meet:

 

§  As a rule, applicants should not have graduated any longer than six years before the application deadline. If you are already working on a doctoral degree, you should not have started your degree any longer than three years previously.

§  Applicants who have been resident in Germany for longer than 15 months at the application deadline cannot be considered.

§  The required language level depends on the applicant's study plans and subject: In the arts, social sciences and in law, at least a good knowledge of German is usually expected. For the natural sciences and engineering, proof of good English language skills may also be accepted if English is spoken at the host institute.

 

Most Important Application Documents:
Please be aware that besides other documents, you will need to upload with your application an "extensive and detailed description of the research proposal" and hand in "two recent references from university teachers" which provide information about your qualifications.

 

In the case of an individual doctoral programme supervised by a university teacher (academic adviser) you also need to upload a "letter confirming supervision by a university teacher in Germany (academic adviser)" as well as a "schedule of planned research work".

 

In the case of planned participation in a structured doctoral study programme you will need to upload a "letter of admission to a study programme" and a "proof of existing contacts to the coordinator of the doctoral programme in the form of copies of correspondence" instead.

 

Please note: Certificates, proof of credits, certifications and translations may be scanned in non-certified form and uploaded to the DAAD portal. DAAD's Head Office in Bonn will only request certified copies of the submitted documents in paper form if a grant is awarded! 

 

Doctoral studies and research in the areas of human medicine (Dr. med.), veterinary medicine (Dr. med.vet.) or dentistry (Dr. med. dent.) cannot be supported.

The application procedure occurs online and is open now. You can apply through this website. Therefore,kindly follow the instructions given under „Application Procedure“.

Keep in mind, that the application Deadline is 31st of August.
