Minister of
Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Qusay Al-Suhail received a
delegation from the Association of Arab Universities headed by Dr. Amr Ezzat
Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities (AArU).
Dr. Qusay
Al-Suhail expressed the willingness to foster the collaboration with the Association
of Arab Universities and to support the Association in its programs at pan-Arab
and global levels.
Dr. Amr gave
a summary about AArU academic programs and plans and discussed with the Iraqi
Minister University grants donated by the ministry, ways to expand Iraqi
universities' membership and Iraqi universities' membership fees.
The
delegation member included Dr. Nabeel Abdel-Saheb, the President of Al-Nahrain University
and Member of the Executive Council , Dr. Sari Hamdan, President of Al-Ahliyya
Amman University, Mr. Waheeb Karajeh, Director of Media & Public Relations and
Dr. Harith Al-Janabi , consultant for the Iraqi universities' affairs.
The meeting
was attended also by Dr. Hassan Massoudy, Vice Chairman of the Education
Committee in the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Dr. Majid Al – Shurafa, Chancellor
of the Middle Technical University, Dr. Lebanon Shami, Dean of Baghdad College.
The delegation
as an Examining Committee member visited Al-Mustaqbal College, the Middle
Technical University and College of Baghdad to check their membership.
At the end
of the visit, it was decided to grant them membership of the association of Arab
Universities.
